After the Event insurance
This type of insurance policy usually supports the no win no fee
agreements and ensures there is a level of protection when making a
compensation claim for personal injury.

The policy protects
you against losing your case and an award of costs being made
against you. Without the cover you are liable for the costs
personally and because no case is 100% watertight you must ensure
that you are protected before making an accident claim.
After the Event
insurance cover is only necessary where there is no LEGAL
EXPENSES insurance policy already in force.
Most people will have
access to a legal expense policy - usually through their household
insurance policy, motor policy or union representation. The first
question a solicitor will ask you is whether you have any such
cover.
If there is no cover
in place then you may need to take out an "after the event" policy to
pursue your compensation claim. However the decision to obtain such
cover will be made by your appointed solicitor once full details of
your claim have been collated.
It is the
responsibility of the solicitor to ensure you are adequately
protected.
