What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy can be defined in a number of ways because it
is very broad in its application.
Generally speaking you could describe it as treatment that
focuses on human function and movement helping to maximise
the patient's potential both physically and psychologically.

Physiotherapy
treatment explained
Physiotherapists work is very varied. They can be involved in
intensive care programs, mental illness, stroke recovery,
occupational health, and care of the elderly. They also deal with a
wide variety of injuries from soft tissue or whiplash to more
serious bone fractures using a range of treatment methods.
Most
claimants that we arrange therapy for receive treatment for spinal
problems following whiplash injuries. The treatment can involve
manipulation and massage along with exercise routines to strengthen
weak areas.
Electrotherapy can be used to treat more severe conditions. TENS (Transcutaneous
Electrical Nerve Stimulation)
machines for example are
commonly used for pain relief.
You can
instruct a physiotherapist privately or through the NHS. If you make
a claim for compensation following an accident - you may be entitled
to cost free treatment.
Always seek
a medical opinion before you commence physiotherapy. You must be
certain that this form of treatment is appropriate for you.
Also ensure
that your physiotherapist is a chartered practitioner.
