Whiplash Symptoms
A genuine whiplash injury is amongst the most painful, intrusive
and debilitating soft tissue injury that you can sustain. They are
often regarded as simple injuries but nothing could be further from
the truth.

Whiplash injury can affect the entire spine but symptoms are mostly
confined to the neck and mid back (cervical and thoracic spine). Car
accidents are the primary cause of such symptoms but there are many sufferers worldwide who have jarred
or pulled their neck in a variety of ways. Whiplash injuries are
commonplace and require very careful management from the outset.
Whiplash symptoms can include:
Pain or stiffness of
the neck, back, jaw, shoulders, or arms.
Headache and
dizziness.
Psychological problems
including memory loss, concentration difficulties, nervousness,
irritability, sleep disturbances, fatigue and depression.
Loss of feeling,
numbness and burning in the arm, hand or leg
Nausea or vomiting
Blurred vision
balance problems
These symptoms may not be evident immediately after an accident. In
some cases it can take days for the effects of whiplash symptoms to
be fully realised.
It is highly recommended that you
seek medical attention throughout your recovery period and if your
symptoms persist - ask your doctor to consider physio or similar
treatment to aid your recovery.
